WHAT IT DOES
Medical cables cause atrophy. NEXO is a wireless clinical wearable that monitors the electrocardiogram without restricting movement. Its elastic bellows adapt to the body, protecting the skin and restoring patient autonomy for faster recovery.

YOUR INSPIRATION
The idea was born when a relative spent 45 days hospitalized with 24/7 ECG monitoring. Seeing him tethered to the bed revealed a severe clinical contradiction: patients must move to heal, yet wired systems immobilize them, causing rapid muscle atrophy and psychological distress. Furthermore, any attempt to move creates cable friction and electrical noise, triggering constant false alarms that overwhelm nursing staff. Our goal was to entirely redefine the human-machine interface. By eliminating these physical tethers, we aimed to restore patient autonomy and dignity without compromising critical diagnostic precision.

HOW IT WORKS
NEXO operates on a ``zero-friction`` architecture. It captures a clinical 5-lead ECG, replacing bulky cables with four medical Shore 20A LSR silicone arms. The technological key lies in its geometry: arms with an inverted ``C`` profile that act as expanding bellows. When stretched, they adapt to any torso without generating recoil tension, preventing electrodes from tearing the skin during movement. Inside, a wavy flexible circuit elongates without breaking.

Electronically, the core processes data locally (Edge Computing). It integrates an inertial measurement unit to cross-reference heart data with biomechanics. This allows the algorithm to filter physical movement interference in real time, eradicating false alarms. Finally, it transmits purified data via encrypted wireless connection, protecting privacy and avoiding overloading critical hospital Wi-Fi networks, ensuring stable monitoring that restores mobility.
