WHAT IT DOES
When ventilation fails, it is often blamed on human error. We asked a different question: what if the problem is not the clinician, but a device that requires one person to control too many critical variables at once?

YOUR INSPIRATION
Our project started with a question: When manual ventilation fails… where does the error really lie? The more we investigated, the more we realised that manual ventilation requires one person to simultaneously control many complex aspects while also performing other life-saving interventions. So why does emergency ventilation still rely almost entirely on manual performance? Instead of asking how clinicians could become more accurate, we asked how design could make mistakes less likely. That shift in perspective became the foundation of AVA.

HOW IT WORKS
AVA is designed to make emergency ventilation simple, reliable and intuitive. The clinician places the mask over the patient's face and selects either Adult or Paediatric mode. Before ventilation begins, integrated sensors verify the mask seal and immediately indicate any air leaks, allowing quick repositioning if needed. Once the seal is confirmed, AVA automatically delivers controlled breaths using a compact high-speed airflow system, regulating airflow, breathing rate and inspiratory pressure. Throughout the process, the device continuously monitors ventilation and alerts the user to leaks, obstructions or low battery through clear visual and audible feedback. While AVA manages the ventilation cycle, the clinician remains in control and can focus on airway management, patient monitoring and other critical interventions.
